Properly maintaining your Sprinter Van is vital.  This starts with Routine Maintenance.

Routine maintenance is what we call preventative maintenance.  Our goal for all of our customers is to drive their Freightliner Sprinter for as long as possible.  All of our recommended routine maintenance will by far cost less than major component replacement.  Regular routine maintenance will definitely extend the life of your Sprinter Van.

Maintenance on your Sprinter Van or Sprinter Rv can vary.  Routine maintenance can be a time or mileage factor.  It is always crucial that we fully understand our customers situation so that we can advise on the best services recommended and performed.

Routine maintenance on your Sprinter Van or Mercedes Sprinter Rv starts with consistent engine Oil Changes.  Oil changes should range between 8,000 to 10,000 miles.  As your Sprinter ages, you want to stay consistent at 8,000 mile oil change intervals.  If you are running your Sprinter Van hard, you can lower that mileage down to 6,000 – 7,000 miles.

Engine Air Filters & Cabin Air Filters are a very important piece to your Routine Maintenance.  Your engine air filter and cabin air filter should be changed as often as needed.  The climate condition will dictate how often they should be changed.  You can visibly view the cabin air filter that is located at the right side of the engine compartment.  The engine air filter is located within the black engine air filter box that is mounted at the top side of the engine.

Next, we move to Fuel Filter maintenance.  Sprinter Vans do not like bio-diesel and a lot of diesel fuel stations sell bio-diesel.  We recommend replacing your fuel filter every 20,000 miles.  If you feel you purchased a bad batch of diesel, you will want to install a new fuel filter as soon as possible.

We then move to Sprinter Transmission Service.  Your transmission is a very complex component.  We recommend servicing your Sprinter transmission every 50,000 to 60,000 miles.  Transmission service will extended the life of the transmission.  If your Mercedes Sprinter is under heavy load, you may want to reduce the mileage in between service intervals.

The Rear Axle Differential is another complex component involved in Routine Maintenance.  The rear differential has a lot of moving parts and the life can be extended with consistent routine maintenance.  We recommend servicing your rear axle every 50,000 to 60,000 miles.  As like the transmission, if your Sprinter Van is under heavy load, you may want to reduce the mileage in between service intervals.

A Coolant Flush is another routine maintenance item that should be followed.  We recommend a coolant flush every 70,000 to 80,000 miles.

Your Mercedes Freightliner Dodge Sprinter is built to an exceedingly high standard, and we don’t believe it should be serviced by just any repair facility. These commercial vehicles run their best when maintained by trained service technicians like the technicians at Detroit Sprinter Center.  Contact us to put a routine maintenance plan in place for your Sprinter Van or Sprinter Rv.
